The Unusual Shoppe is no longer a retail shop filled with antiques and collectibles. I guess you could say it is now even MORE unusual in that the antiques and artifacts on display now are not for sale. The space that once was a storefront is now home to a Do-It-Yourself MUSIC VENUE, providing a location for social gatherings and LIVE MUSIC in downtown Tarboro.
Our "WE BE JAMMIN'" events are a way to provide a forum for local musicians to practice & perform in front of a live (and very appreciative) audience. We fill the rest of the evening with multi-mic singing with music provided by over 1500 songs. There is never a cover charge. Folks of all ages are welcome. Bring your friends, bring snacks to share, bring your own beverage.
We are currently using a portion of the first floor on the south side of the building. You can find our entrance just off Main Street, at 108 E. Pitt Street, (near the Court House & the Town Square).
We know we're dreamers, but we plan restoration and shopspace expansion that will include the entire first floor of the building. We think Tarboro is a GREAT town; a great place to live and a great place to visit. We've set our sights on creating at 305 N. Main Street a fabulous day-trip destination with regularly scheduled entertainment and events for the whole family.
We welcome and encourage community involvement to turn this dream into a BIG reality for everyone involved.
BANDS! MUSICIANS! Wanna Put on a SHOW?
We've got a 12' x 16' stage, a good sound system, tables & chairs for folks to sit at, a snack bar, a space for dancing (or more chairs) and a lounge space for comfortable conversation.
What we want is LIVE MUSIC....
Here's the deal:
You play the music... you help promote the events & bring your audience ...
We provide the space plus amenities .... Any cover charge (you determine) is split 50/50. If you want to put on a free show...that's do-able, too. It's not about the money...it's about the MUSIC.
